The Challenge: Minimally Invasive BCI's
Synchron, a leader in neurotechnology, is developing the Stentrode™—a revolutionary Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) implanted via blood vessels, eliminating the need for open-brain surgery. This less invasive approach offers new hope for individuals with severe paralysis.
To realize this breakthrough, Synchron required components that were exceptionally miniaturized, flexible, and biocompatible. Traditional manufacturing methods fell short of producing the self-expanding bioelectronic structures needed to navigate delicate neural pathways and transmit brain signals safely. Synchron needed a partner capable of transforming the impossible into reality.

By combining precision microfabrication, monolithic fabrication, and additive Nitinol technology, ACQUANDAS delivered the enabling solution: specialized additive microfabrication of highly advanced components—paving the way for the next generation of implantable BCIs

We utilized Nitinol for its critical self-expandlable super elasticity and biocompatibility properties.




High-Resolution Processing
Using proprietary thin-film deposition, UV lithography, and microscale patterning, ACQUANDAS enabled the fabrication of the Stentrode™—a monolithic, self-expandable and biocompatible device equipped with electrode arrays featuring sub-micron precision.




Collaborative Scaling
We partnered with Synchron from rapid prototyping to scalable, quality-controlled production readiness.
